Cafe Domenico is a local Italian that operates as a cafe by day and a restaurant by night. The cafe already has a strong client base of regulars for sandwiches and deli salads but most of the regulars were unaware that it opened in the evening as a full Italian restaurant. The brief for this job was to re-brand the business giving emphasis to the restaurant without losing the cafe’s client base. The solution was to create two variations of the brand, one for the day and one for evening. In the day ‘Cafe Domenico’ would operate under the original name and by night it would be referred to a ‘Domenicos’ giving it a clear and distinguishable brand for both sides of the business.
The brands were inspired by Italian typography with a sophisticated monochrome logo for the evening and a quirkier playful version with the addition of red during the day.
